Safety Nets – EN 1263 Fall Protection Netting
AGS safety nets protect people and property wherever work is done at height. We manufacture EN 1263-1 personnel safety nets in all four systems, together with debris, scaffold, facade and stairwell nets, in standard panel sizes or made to your drawing.

Every safety net project starts with three questions: where can people or objects fall from, what is below, and what can the net be fixed to? The answers decide the system, the class and the net size.
- Horizontal protection below a work area: a System S construction safety net fixed to the structure with its border rope.
- Slab edges with no structure below: System T bracket safety nets on cantilever brackets.
- Open edges and scaffold sides: System U edge protection nets on a supporting frame.
- High-rise frames: System V vertical safety nets hung from gallows arms and moved up floor by floor.
- Tools, materials and debris: debris nets, scaffold netting and facade protection nets.
- Stairwells, atriums and voids in finished buildings: stairwell and atrium safety nets.
EN 1263-1 energy classes
Personnel safety nets are tested by dropping a weight into the net and measuring the energy it absorbs. EN 1263-1 groups nets into four classes:
| Class | Minimum energy absorption | Maximum mesh size |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | 2.3 kJ | 60 mm |
| A2 | 2.3 kJ | 100 mm |
| B1 | 4.4 kJ | 60 mm |
| B2 | 4.4 kJ | 100 mm |
Most construction sites use class A2 or B2 nets with a 100 mm mesh. Choose class B where the fall height or the expected load is higher, and a 60 mm mesh where smaller openings are required. Our article on safety net classes A1, A2, B1 and B2 explains the choice in more detail.
Knotless netting, made in our own plant
AGS safety nets are made from knotless netting produced in our own plant. Without knots, the mesh does not slip, the net is lighter for the same strength and the load spreads evenly through the twine when a person falls into it. We control the twine, the netting, the ropes and the finishing, so each order can be matched to the project: net size, mesh, colour, border rope diameter and labelling.
Installation, inspection and service life
A safety net only protects if it is installed and maintained correctly. EN 1263-2 sets the rules: the maximum fall height into the net, the catching width beyond the working edge, the anchor spacing and the free space below the net. During use, nets are checked before each shift and after every impact, and a test mesh is tested at least every 12 months. Our complete safety net guide covers planning, installation and inspection step by step.
For contractors, distributors and rental companies
We supply finished safety nets to contractors and safety managers, and manufacture nets and netting rolls for distributors and rental fleets under their own brand. Tell us the system, class, sizes and quantities you need, or send a drawing, and our technical team will reply with a specification and a price.
Compare the systems
| System | Position | Fixed to | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Horizontal | Structure, via border rope | Below slabs, roofs, bridge decks |
| T | Horizontal | Brackets on the building edge | Slab edges without structure below |
| U | Vertical | Supporting frame or posts | Open edges, scaffold sides |
| V | Vertical, hung | Gallows-type supports | High-rise frames, floor by floor |
Frequently asked questions
Which safety net do I need for a building site?
For horizontal protection below a work area use a System S net. Where there is nothing below to anchor to, use System T nets on brackets. For open edges use System U, and for high-rise frames use System V. Add a debris net if tools and small materials must also be caught.
What does EN 1263-1 class B2 mean?
B means the net absorbs at least 4.4 kJ in the drop test, and 2 means the mesh is at most 100 mm. Class A nets absorb at least 2.3 kJ, and class 1 nets have a mesh of at most 60 mm.
Do you make nets to size?
Yes. Every net can be made to the dimensions of your project, with border ropes and tie ropes prepared for the anchor layout.
Can you supply nets under our brand?
Yes. We produce safety nets for distributors, rental companies and contractors with private labels, packaging and documentation.
Which documents come with the nets?
Each net carries a product label. A technical data sheet, a declaration of conformity and installation guidance are supplied with every order.
